Moving in Ventura County has its own quirks — narrow beach streets in Pierpont, hillside driveways in Thousand Oaks, and hot summer garages in Simi Valley. This checklist is built specifically for local moves.

6 weeks out

  • Confirm your move-in date and give notice to your landlord if renting.
  • Start decluttering, one room per weekend.
  • Reserve your moving totes with 805 Totes (founding customers get 20% off).

3 weeks out

  • Transfer utilities: SoCal Edison, SoCal Gas, and your local water district (Ventura Water, Camrosa, Calleguas, etc.).
  • Update your address with USPS, DMV, and your bank.
  • Book your movers or U-Haul.

1 week out

  • We deliver your totes and dolly.
  • Pack non-essentials first: books, seasonal clothes, garage items.
  • Label each tote by room using painter's tape.

Move day

  • Load the heaviest totes on the dolly first.
  • Pack the moving truck bottom-to-top, heavy-to-light.
  • Keep an "essentials" tote with chargers, toiletries, and a change of clothes.

After the move

Unpack at your own pace — you have a full week. When you're done, we come pick up the empty totes and the dolly. Zero cardboard to break down, zero trips to the recycling center.

Moving soon? Totes delivered to your door.
