Moving timelines are tight. You've got a closing date, a lease end, or a job start waiting — the last thing you need is discovering that moving supplies aren't available when you need them. After hundreds of moves across Ventura County, here's when to book your totes for each season, plus what to expect if you're calling last-minute.
1. Why early booking matters
Between May and September, thousands of people in Ventura County shift homes at the same time. Our fleet is finite — when the calendar fills, later callers lose flexibility on delivery dates and may not get the package size they want. A family planning a June move who books in March locks in their preferred delivery week; the same family calling in May often finds we're holding inventory for customers who reserved earlier.

2. Book 4–6 weeks ahead for summer peak season
Summer dominates our calendar — families relocating before school starts, professionals with summer transfers, real estate closings clustered in June and July. For any move scheduled June 1 through August 31, book by early May at the latest.
- First pick of delivery day.
- Pickup timing aligned to your move-out.
- All package sizes still available — Studio through 4-Bedroom.
Concrete example: closing on a home in Thousand Oaks on June 15 and reaching out in early May → delivery on June 10, five days to pack, pickup June 18. Call on June 1 for the same move and we might only have delivery slots on June 14 or 16, squeezing your packing timeline.
3. Reserve 2–3 weeks out for spring and fall
March–April and September–October are lighter, which works in your favor. Two to three weeks is the sweet spot — enough lead time to confirm your package and delivery logistics without sitting in limbo. Fall especially: September gets overlooked as "quiet," but it's actually peak back-to-school relocation season, so three weeks ahead puts you in front of that secondary bump.
4. Last-minute bookings — what to expect
Life doesn't always cooperate with planning. Job transfers surprise you. A closing accelerates. We accommodate last-minute moves, but expectations matter:
- Less than 2 weeks, peak season: limited options. Delivery windows narrow, and pickup may need flexibility on your end.
- 1 week or less, peak season: often impossible. Our totes are on a one-week rental cycle, so units in use during your move week aren't available.
- Slower months (Nov–Feb): we often have same-week or next-day availability.

5. Real estate closings — the timeline that works
Closings are unusually rigid. The date is fixed, you must vacate on a specific day, and totes need to line up perfectly. Book as soon as your closing is confirmed, even if it's 8+ weeks out:
- 8+ weeks before closing: ideal. Lock everything in.
- 4–6 weeks: still excellent, especially outside summer.
- 2–3 weeks: workable in shoulder seasons, tighter in peak.
- 1 week or less: risky June–August; call immediately.

6. Holiday and year-end moves
November and December bring a quiet secondary surge — holiday home purchases, families moving before Christmas, fiscal-year business transitions. Demand is steady but nothing like summer, so 2–3 weeks ahead is generally fine.
The one exception: December 20–31. A lot of people push to close moves before year-end for tax or admin reasons, which creates a mini-surge. If you're aiming for a year-end move, book by early December. For January 2–15 moves, you've still got room.

Booking with us isn't like hoping cardboard is in stock at Home Depot on move day. When you reserve, specific totes get blocked to your dates. Someone calling the day before your delivery doesn't get your inventory — theirs is allocated separately.
Every tote comes back from a move, gets inspected, cleaned, and readied for the next customer. Ask for your confirmation and written delivery + pickup dates so you have documentation of the reservation.
